Properties: Colorless or white shiny flaky crystals or white crystalline powder. Slightly distinctive odor. Slightly bitter taste. Melting point 280-281°C (decomposition). Unstable in strong acids, which can lead to demethylation. Soluble in water (5.6g/100ml, 30°C), warm dilute ethanol, alkaline solutions, and dilute inorganic acids. Sparingly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in ether.

Uses: L-Methionine is one of the eight essential amino acids that the human body cannot synthesize on its own. It is widely used in beverages, food, biochemical reagents, daily life, and various other fields.
