Octabromodiphenyl ether

Octabromodiphenyl ether is a white powder with low toxicity, soluble in benzene, acetone, chloroform, etc., but insoluble in water and ethanol. Its decomposition temperature exceeds 285°C. It is a major refined product of tetrabromobisphenol A, offering superior flame retardant effects. As an additive flame retardant, octabromodiphenyl ether is highly efficient, containing both aromatic bromine and aliphatic bromine, and exhibits excellent thermal and light stability. It is primarily used in polypropylene, polystyrene, polystyrene resins, and polyvinyl chloride resins. Compared to hexabromocyclododecane, it has a higher decomposition temperature and is irreplaceable in certain applications.
