Storage Method
1. Store in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from ignition sources and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 30°C. The packaging must be sealed and not exposed to air. Store separately from oxidizers and avoid mixed storage. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Avoid using mechanical equipment and tools that may generate sparks. The storage area should be equipped with emergency leak-handling equipment and appropriate containment materials.

2. Pack in iron drums. Store in a cool, ventilated, and dry warehouse. Open flames are strictly prohibited. Handle with care during transportation, avoid inversion and collisions. Store and transport according to regulations for flammable and toxic substances. Packed in iron drums, net weight 170 kg/drum.

Synthesis Method
Produced by catalytic hydrogenation of 2-methylfuran. When palladium chloride is used as the catalyst for catalytic hydrogenation, the main product is acetylpropanol (see 00420), but the byproduct 2-methyltetrahydrofuran can also be recovered.

Main Uses
Used as a solvent for resins, natural rubber, ethyl cellulose, and vinyl acetate copolymers; also used as a raw material in the pharmaceutical industry for the synthesis of drugs such as the antimalarial drug primaquine phosphate.
