The PNI Sen-XY is a Z-axis magnetic measurement sensor designed for vertical mounting on PCBs, which can form a 3-axis/3D magnetic solution when combined with the Z-axis magnetic sensor Sen-Z. For most applications, PNI magnetic sensors primarily serve as inductive elements in the measurement circuit (LR relaxation oscillator circuit), where the magnitude of induction is proportional to the magnetic field parallel to the sensor's measurement axis. The frequency of the oscillator circuit, driven by an ASIC, changes with variations in the magnetic field. By measuring the time for a specific number of oscillation cycles, the magnitude of the measured magnetic field can be derived.
The unique advantages of this measurement method employed by PNI magnetic sensors include low power consumption, high resolution, no hysteresis, digital output, low temperature drift, and minimal interference from environmental electrical noise.
