Powder Coating Pretreatment Process Requirements:

Chemical pretreatment methods can be used, such as: degreasing → derusting → cleaning → phosphating (or passivation), etc. For most rusted or thick-surfaced workpieces, mechanical methods like sandblasting or shot blasting are used for derusting. However, after mechanical derusting, the workpiece surface must be ensured to be clean and free of scale.

Apply filler. Depending on the degree of defects, apply conductive filler, dry it, and then sand it smooth before proceeding to the next process.

Masking (also known as covering). If certain parts of the workpiece do not require coating, they can be masked with protective tape before preheating to avoid coating.

Preheating. Generally, preheating is not required. If a thicker coating is desired, the workpiece can be preheated to 100–160°C to increase the coating thickness.


Powder Coating Pretreatment Process Parameters:

1. Customer requirements for coating quality: generally, carefully analyze the overall quality of the sample or template provided by the customer.

2. Condition of the object to be coated: conduct a preliminary analysis of the customer's raw workpieces, such as material properties and color absorption. Focus on pretreatment requirements for the raw workpiece surface before coating.

3. Confirm the coating system. Analyze the surface effect of the coating based on the sample, including the type of paint used, color system, gloss level, etc.

4. Must consider the customer's existing conditions. The process you design should be based on the customer's current facilities to ensure smooth implementation in their factory (e.g., equipment, working environment, personnel quality, etc.).

5. Plan the coating process flow and conduct a preliminary assessment of the coating timeline.

6. Calculate and evaluate product costs.
