Silicon carbide crucible is a ceramic deep-bottomed bowl-shaped container. It is used when solids need to be heated at high temperatures, as it can withstand higher temperatures better than glassware. When using a crucible, the melted substance is usually not filled to the brim to prevent spillage due to heating and to allow air to circulate freely for possible oxidation reactions. Due to its small bottom, the crucible generally needs to be placed on a clay triangle for direct heating over a flame. It can be positioned upright or tilted on an iron tripod, depending on the requirements of the experiment. After heating, the crucible should not be immediately placed on a cold metal surface to avoid cracking due to rapid cooling. It should also not be placed directly on a wooden tabletop to prevent scorching the surface or causing a fire. Silicon carbide crucibles are mainly used in metallurgy, casting, machinery, chemical engineering, and other industrial sectors. They are widely employed in the smelting of alloy tool steels and the melting of non-ferrous metals and their alloys, offering good technical and economic benefits.
