The production of instant coffee powder generally involves processes such as coffee bean selection, cleaning, roasting, grinding, extraction, filtration, concentration, drying, and sterilization. For liquid coffee preparation, the process stops at the concentration stage. Extraction is commonly done using water extraction or cold brew extraction, both aimed at separating components like coffee sugars from the powder as much as possible to improve yield.

The pilot line equipment configuration for coffee production is as follows: single batch input of 25-30kg, water-to-coffee ratio of 1:8 or 1:10 for two extraction cycles, two batches per day processing 50-60kg of coffee beans, extraction tank effective volume of 300L, equipped with stirring and steam heating. Total extract volume is about 1200L, with subsequent centrifugal equipment, membrane filtration equipment, and membrane concentration equipment selected for 200-300L/h, accompanied by a 500L/h primary purified water system for extraction water, electric steam generator water, and equipment cleaning water.
