Nanofiltration (NF) lies between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, with a molecular weight cutoff ranging from approximately 100Da to 1000Da. It is primarily used to remove small organic molecules, dyes, heavy metal ions, etc., achieving desalination, removal of small molecules, and concentration of materials, while maintaining a relatively fast processing speed. Using nanofiltration membranes for concentrating antibiotics, synthetic drugs, traditional Chinese medicine extracts, and fruit/vegetable juices offers advantages such as room temperature operation, non-destructive processing, low cost, and high yield. Spiral-wound membrane modules are predominantly used in industrial applications of nanofiltration.
