Dextran is a high-molecular-weight glucose polymer with an average relative molecular mass ranging from several thousand to several hundred thousand Daltons. Low molecular weight dextran typically refers to dextran with a weight-average molecular weight below 20,000 Da, which functions to improve microcirculation, increase plasma colloid osmotic pressure, and exert osmotic diuretic effects. In recent years, to reduce production costs and enhance product quality, novel membrane separation technologies such as hollow fiber ultrafiltration and nanomembrane technology have been applied in the ultrafiltration purification, nanoconcentration, and purification processes of iron dextran hydrolysate.
