01. MVR energy-saving evaporator technology is currently the most advanced evaporator technology, requiring only a minimal amount of live steam (a small amount is needed for startup, and almost no live steam is required during normal operation), significantly reducing operational costs for enterprises and minimizing environmental pollution.
02. Due to the use of a compressor to provide the heat source, the temperature difference is much smaller compared to traditional evaporators, enabling gentle evaporation, greatly improving product quality, and reducing scaling.
03. No condenser or only a very small condenser area is required. The structure and process are very simple, with fully automated operation, continuous running, and high safety and reliability.
04. The equipment is equipped with built-in CIP cleaning pipelines, enabling in-place cleaning. The entire system is easy to operate and free of dead corners.
05. This evaporator operates at low temperatures (evaporation temperature between 50°C and 100°C) and without foam generation. The feed liquid is uniform, with no material loss, minimal scaling, and the least thermal denaturation of the material.
06. The installation space required for an MVR evaporator is about twice that of a conventional multi-effect evaporator, and the equipment investment is higher. However, the operating costs are much lower than those of conventional multi-effect evaporators.
07. To prevent operator errors or malfunctions caused by incorrect operation, an automated control system for equipment protection is essential.
08. Traditional multi-effect evaporators use fresh steam as an energy source. For example, a five-effect evaporator typically consumes 0.23 tons of fresh steam to evaporate one ton of water. In contrast, MVR mechanical vapor compression evaporators consume electricity, typically using 15–27 kWh to evaporate one ton of water. For materials with a low boiling point rise, the electricity consumption can be as low as 20 kWh per ton of water. The extent of energy savings depends closely on the local price of fresh steam and electricity. For instance, if steam costs 180 RMB per ton and electricity is 0.7 RMB per kWh, compared to a five-effect evaporator, the energy cost savings per ton of water evaporated would be 0.23*180 - 20*0.7 = 27.4 RMB. With an evaporation capacity of 100 tons, operating 24 hours a day for 330 days a year, the annual energy savings would be 27.4 * 100 * 24 * 330 = 21,700,800 RMB. MVR evaporators are over 60% more energy-efficient than five-effect evaporators.
09. The price of an MVR mechanical vapor compression evaporator is approximately twice that of a multi-effect evaporator. For new projects, the additional investment in an MVR system can generally be recovered within 300 operating days. For energy-saving retrofit projects where an MVR system replaces an existing multi-effect evaporator, the investment can typically be recovered within 500 operating days.
- In special regions where steam costs are very low and electricity prices are very high, the economic advantages of MVR mechanical vapor compression evaporators are not significant, and their use is not recommended.
