Industrial Protective Coatings Testing

1. Control Standards

GB 30981-2021 "Limits of Harmful Substances in Industrial Protective Coatings". This standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, packaging labels, and implementation of the standard for the permissible limits of substances harmful to human health and the environment in industrial protective coatings.

2. Scope of Application

Not limited to the construction industry; applicable to various industrial sectors. It applies to all types of industrial protective coatings (excluding ship coatings) used for protecting surfaces such as metal, concrete, and plastic (excluding putty), but does not apply to aerospace coatings, nuclear power coatings, and coatings for facilities.

3. Classification of Industrial Protective Coatings

Industrial protective coatings are classified into water-based coatings, solvent-based coatings, solvent-free coatings, radiation-curable coatings, and powder coatings.

lWater-based coatings are divided into machinery and equipment coatings, building and structure protective coatings (excluding wall coatings for construction), container coatings, packaging coatings, profile coatings (including metal substrate curtain wall panel coatings), and electronic and electrical coatings;

lSolvent-based coatings are divided into machinery and equipment coatings, building and structure protective coatings, container coatings, pre-coated coil coatings, packaging coatings, profile coatings (including metal substrate curtain wall panel coatings), and electronic and electrical coatings;

lRadiation-curable coatings are divided into water-based and non-water-based.

4. Testing Content

VOC content, benzene content, total content of toluene and xylene, total content of halogenated hydrocarbons, total content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (limited to naphthalene and anthracene), methanol content, total content of ethylene glycol and ether esters, heavy metal content.
