Overview
*The PHR Large Portable Rockwell Hardness Tester is the large-size segment of the PHR series of portable Rockwell hardness testers. The instrument adopts the Rockwell hardness testing principle, complying with the Chinese standard GB/T230 and the American standard ASTM E18. Its testing accuracy is higher than that of the 150A benchtop Rockwell hardness tester.
* The PHR Large Portable Rockwell Hardness Tester is used for on-site accurate testing of large and medium-sized molds, large forgings, cast steel parts, chilled cast iron, pearlitic malleable cast iron, shafts, rollers, pipes, and other large mechanical components, as well as large components on assembled equipment. It can test various large steel parts and metal workpieces such as copper and aluminum, including those that have undergone annealing, normalizing, tempering, quenching, carburizing, and induction hardening.
* The instrument uses a C-shaped support frame to securely fix the Rockwell test head on the workpiece surface. If high-grade Rockwell hardness blocks are used, the instrument's accuracy can reach ±1.0 HRC.
* Compared to the Leeb hardness tester, which is widely used for hardness testing of large workpieces, this instrument has fewer factors affecting testing accuracy, lower requirements for workpiece surface finish, complies with most product standards without conversion, is easily recognized in international trade, and offers several times higher testing accuracy. The emergence of this instrument provides an important means for on-site rapid and accurate testing of the mechanical properties of large workpieces.
* The instrument produces very small indentations, tests quickly, and can be used for non-destructive testing of batch-produced finished or semi-finished workpieces.
* The Rockwell hardness values measured by the instrument can be easily converted to Brinell hardness values (HB) or tensile strength values (σb).

The models of the PHR series hardness testers are determined based on the instrument's maximum opening size and the classification of Rockwell hardness testers/superficial Rockwell hardness testers. The number following "PHR-" indicates the opening size (in inches), the letter "S" indicates a superficial Rockwell hardness tester, and the letters "ST" indicate a tube superficial Rockwell hardness tester. Users can select the appropriate instrument model based on the size of the test sample.
