Turpentine

Turpentine oil is an essential oil extracted from the resin of coniferous plants, appearing as a colorless to slightly yellow clear liquid, primarily composed of α-

pinene and β-pinene, characterized by volatility and flammability, miscible with organic solvents but insoluble in water.,

Uses:

1. One of the oils used to dilute oil paints, its components are derived from pine wood, volatile and capable of dissolving oil paints, with medicinal turpentine being of the highest quality. Oil painters often use large amounts of turpentine for mixing colors when outlining and laying the initial base layers, making it an indispensable material for modern painters.

2. Turpentine oil can be used in the production of synthetic camphor, synthetic mint tablets, terpineol, and synthetic fragrances.

3. It also has extensive applications in the paint industry, pesticide industry, paper industry, and textile industry, among others.
