Cleaning Agent

Aminosulfonic acid cleaning agent has a wide range of applications. It can be used to clean boilers, condensers, heat exchangers, jackets, and chemical pipelines. In breweries, it is used to remove scale deposits from glass-lined storage tanks, pots, open beer coolers, and beer barrels. It cleans evaporators in enamel factories and equipment in paper mills. In air conditioning systems, it can remove rust and scale from cooling systems and evaporative condensers. For sea vessels, it eliminates algae and scale from seawater evaporators (distillation equipment), heat exchangers, and brine heaters. It can also clean scale from copper kettles, radiators, dishwasher mechanisms, silverware, toilets, tiles, and food and cheese processing equipment. Additionally, it removes protein deposits from cookers and residues from disinfected aluminum used in fresh meat, vegetable, and cheese processing plants. The U.S. Department of Agriculture permits the use of aminosulfonic acid as an acidic cleaning agent in fresh meat, poultry, rabbit, and egg processing enterprises.^[11][18]

Textile Industry

Aminosulfonic acid can serve as an eliminator of excess nitrite in diazotization reactions in the dye industry, a color fixative in textile dyeing, and a flame retardant layer on textiles. It is also used to produce cleaning agents for yarn and other auxiliaries in the textile industry.^[19]

Paper Industry

Aminosulfonic acid can be used as a bleaching aid, reducing or eliminating the catalytic effect of heavy metal ions in bleaching liquors, thereby ensuring the quality of the bleach. It also minimizes the oxidative degradation of fibers by metal ions, prevents peeling reactions of fibers, and enhances pulp strength and whiteness.^[15]

Petroleum Industry

Aminosulfonic acid can be used to alleviate reservoir blockages and improve permeability. Injecting an aminosulfonic acid solution into carbonate oil reservoirs facilitates reactions with the rock, preventing salt deposition. Although the treatment cost is slightly higher, it significantly increases oil production. In the United States, a solution containing 48.5% potassium hydroxyacetate, 3.4% aminosulfonic acid, and 0.1–3% wetting agent is used to clean gypsum scale from oil well casings, with a treatment time of approximately 30 hours.^[16]

Agriculture

Aminosulfonic acid and ammonium aminosulfonate were initially developed as herbicides. They are reported to act as contact toxins when applied directly to plants and exhibit a sterilizing effect when applied to soil.
