Manufacturing Method

Propionaldehyde is obtained by the carbonylation synthesis of ethylene, followed by hydrogenation to yield n-propanol. Alternatively, n-propanol can be directly produced from ethylene and water using metal carbonyl compounds as catalysts. It can also be manufactured by the liquid-phase oxidation of propane or butane.

Applications

It is commonly used as a solvent. It can be applied in paint solvents, printing inks, cosmetics, and used to produce n-propylamine, an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and pesticides. It is also utilized in the production of feed additives, synthetic fragrances, and more. Propanol has extensive applications in the pharmaceutical industry, food additives, plasticizers, fragrances, and many other areas.
