Iron-containing dust primarily consists of baghouse dust collected by the dust removal system during steel smelting. Its main components are iron and carbon, along with some harmful impurities such as zinc, lead, potassium, sodium oxides, etc. For a long time, most of this dust has been recycled by returning it to sintering or briquetting processes before re-entering blast furnaces or converters for smelting. With the continuous enrichment of harmful elements like zinc, lead, potassium, and sodium in the dust sludge within the blast furnace process, and the increasing proportion of scrap galvanized steel used in steelmaking, the zinc content in the dust sludge has shown a gradual upward trend. At the same time, excessively high zinc content in the furnace charge, due to its low boiling point, leads to volatilization and enrichment in the upper part of the blast furnace, gradually forming accretions that affect smooth furnace operation and shorten the blast furnace's lifespan.
