The hand-push type steel plate grinding machine is suitable for large-area flat plates and large-area welding grinding, suitable for grinding flat plate welds.Grinding is the final finishing process and the last necessary step in the foundry workshop for castings. For grinding machines (i.e., grinders), the basic principles for selection should be ease of operation, high efficiency, labor-saving and grinding wheel conservation, low labor intensity, long machine service life, and good economic benefits. That is, different types of grinding machines should be selected based on the size, geometric shape, and other conditions of the castings. Generally, small parts use fixed grinders, while large parts use suspended grinders, where the casting remains stationary and the suspended grinder moves within a certain radius. Alternatively, portable pneumatic or electric small grinders can be used, which can grind any part. Although convenient, they are inefficient, consume more small grinding wheels, have high labor intensity, and high costs. Handcart-type grinders are more suitable for medium-sized, not too tall castings for grinding flat surfaces or cutting residual roots of gates and risers. The simple handcart-type grinder has an extremely simple structure, can be self-made by foundry workshops of any scale, is convenient to use, has obvious effects, and the outline dimensions can be determined based on the casting conditions.

Precautions

(1) Select the coarseness of the grinding wheel based on the material of the workpiece to be processed and the required processing accuracy. Softer metal materials, such as copper and aluminum, should use coarser grinding wheels; for workpieces requiring higher precision, use finer grinding wheels.
(2) Choose the appropriate grinding wheel surface based on the shape to be processed.
(3) The grinding wheel used must not have cracks, defects, or damage, and must be installed securely. This should be constantly monitored during use. If cracks, defects, or damage are found, stop using it immediately and replace it with a new one; if it becomes loose during operation, stop immediately and tighten it.
(4) During grinding, operators should wear protective goggles to prevent injury from flying metal chips and sand particles.
(5) The pressure applied to the workpiece being ground should be appropriate. Excessive pressure will cause overheating and annealing of the processed surface, making it unusable in severe cases, and also rapidly reduce the grinding wheel's lifespan.
(6) For workpieces narrower than the grinding surface of the wheel, do not grind only one part of the wheel during the process. Instead, move the workpiece left and right periodically across the grinding surface to maintain relative flatness of the wheel for future processing.
(7) To prevent overheating and annealing of the workpiece's processed surface, the grinding area can be immersed in water for cooling at any time.
(8) Regularly measure the motor's insulation resistance, ensuring it is not less than5MΩ). Use a circuit breaker with leakage protection to connect to the power supply.
