Uses of Acetonitrile

Acetonitrile is the simplest organic nitrile, possessing excellent solvent properties and serving as an important organic intermediate.
Its primary use is as a solvent, often replacing chlorinated solvents, and it is commonly employed in the synthesis of Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, amino acids, cortisone, sulfa drugs, and their intermediates.
Acetonitrile is also a raw material for the preparation of orthoacetate esters, an intermediate in the production of methyl dichlorojasmonate and kung fu acid esters, and a source for pyrimidine derivatives used as intermediates in herbicides.
Additionally, acetonitrile can be used in the synthesis of ethylamine, acetic acid, and has various applications in textile dyeing, lighting industry, fragrance manufacturing, and photosensitive material production.
