Chinese people have been gathering wild shepherd's purse for consumption since ancient times, with records dating back to 300 BC. From the late 19th to early 20th century, cultivation began in the suburbs of Shanghai and has now spanned over ninety years.
　　Currently, major cities in China have begun introducing and cultivating it, though it remains limited to small-scale production.
