n-Octanol is an organic compound with the molecular formula C8H18O and a molecular weight of 130.22800[1]. It is a colorless, transparent oily liquid with a strong greasy odor and a citrus note. As a saturated fatty alcohol, it acts as a T-type calcium channel (T-channels) inhibitor, with an IC50 of 4 μM for native T-currents. It is an attractive biofuel with diesel-like properties. It is also used in fragrances, cosmetics, and other applications.
