In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used as a binder for tablets and granules, and as an adhesive for external ointments, making it one of the commonly used excipients.

In the cosmetics industry, it can serve as a film-forming agent, adhesive, and thickener.

In the textile printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a leveling agent, cleaning agent, anti-staining agent, and soaping agent.

In inks, it functions as a dispersant, thickener, adhesive, and stabilizer.

In agriculture, it can be used as a seed coating agent for the surface treatment of crop or other plant seeds.
