GB4706.110 Figure 109 Foot Probe for Kneeling/Crawling Child
20.102.4.1.4 Test with Foot Probe for Kneeling/Crawling Child
Place the appliance on the test surface specified in Annex CC, except for the following: - The minimum dimensions specified in CC.2 shall allow the appliance to reach the maximum drive speed of its traction mechanism when the cutting device is operating in automatic mode during normal use; and the test surface need not be equipped with the jet tube shown in Figure CC.1.
Test the appliance with the foot probe shown in Figure 109. The sole of the foot probe is made of material with a Shore A hardness of 70 (nominal) and a thickness of (3 ± 0.5) mm. The sole of the foot probe shall be free of dust and grease. Before conducting a series of tests, inspect the sole of the foot probe shown in Figure 109 to ensure that the dynamic friction coefficient of the same material surface, measured according to ISO 8295:1995, is (0.6 ± 0.06).
Operate the appliance in automatic mode with the cutting device running. While the appliance is operating, place the foot probe from Figure 109 into the 10 test positions shown in Figure 110, applicable to the intended movement of the appliance, arranged as follows:
Orient the foot probe against the direction of travel of the appliance, with the toes facing the appliance; and
Place the foot probe on the test surface, taking care to minimize displacement of the foot probe when the appliance contacts it; Note: Spikes or other objects on the probe's knee may help minimize displacement of the foot probe during testing. If a jet tube is present on the coconut fiber mat, it must not affect the test results.
In automatic mode, if the appliance cannot move as intended for any test position shown in Figure 110, it is not necessary to test those positions.
Maintain the foot probe in each test position until one of the following occurs, whichever comes first:
- The appliance completely moves away from the foot probe; or
The foot probe has been held in position for 20 s; or
- The appliance stops and requires manual restart.
For each test position, the foot probe shall not contact the cutting device while it is rotating. If the toes of the foot probe are damaged during testing, they shall be repaired or replaced as necessary.
