Frost Evaporation Device

Frost accumulation can be simulated using a device with a controllable heat source directed toward a measured quantity of water, aiming to evaporate this water within a predetermined time while minimizing additional heat loss to the refrigeration equipment cabinet.

A convenient form of this device consists of a block-shaped housing made of insulating material, with a vertical hole at its center. A lamp is installed inside the hole, mounted on a bottom plug directly beneath an evaporation dish. The dish features a highly conductive base and low-conductivity walls (see Figure BB.1 and BB.2).

Note: Do not turn on the lamp directly and rapidly at low temperatures, as incandescent bulbs are prone to burnout under such conditions. Gradually increase the power, and after the filament has preheated, apply the required power level.
