14.2 Mechanical strength of pins of portable electrical accessories

The pins of portable electrical accessories shall have sufficient mechanical strength.

Compliance is checked by the tests of Chapter 24. For electrical accessories with non-solid pins, the following test is also carried out after the test of Chapter 21.

Using a steel rod with a diameter of 4.8 mm, apply a force of 100 N for 1 min to the pin supported according to Figure 14. When applying the force, keep the axis of the steel rod perpendicular to the axis of the pin.

During the application of force, the reduction in the dimension at the point of force application on the pin shall not exceed 15 mm.

After removing the steel rod, the dimensional change of the pin in any direction shall not exceed 0.06 mm.
