Angelica (scientific name: Heracleum hemsleyanum Diels) is a perennial herb of the Apiaceae family, Angelica genus, reaching up to 1.5 meters in height. The roots are branched and conical, pale yellow. The stem is cylindrical, single, hollow, with membranous leaves. The lower stem leaves are once or twice pinnately divided, with smaller lateral leaflets, nearly ovate. The upper stem leaves are ovate with irregular serrated edges. Compound umbels are terminal and lateral. The inflorescence is nearly smooth; involucre few, long lanceolate; bractlets linear lanceolate, pubescent. Each small umbel has flowers with slender pedicels; calyx teeth inconspicuous; petals white; stylopodium short conical; style short, stigma capitate. The fruit is nearly round, club-shaped, brown, flowering from May to July, fruiting from August to September.
