In the plant kingdom, Fructus Kochiae Scopariae appears as a flat spherical pentagram shape, with a diameter of 1–3 mm. It is covered by a persistent perianth, with a grayish-green or light brown surface, surrounded by five membranous small wings. The dorsal side has a slightly raised dot-like fruit stalk scar and 5–10 radial veins. When the perianth is removed, a membranous, semi-transparent pericarp is visible. The seed is flat-ovate, about 1 mm long, and black. It has a slight odor and a slightly bitter taste.
