【Preparation Method】

Obtained by high-pressure steam distillation for 24 hours from the dried leaves of the herb Pogostemon cablin (Lamiaceae family), which are stacked for three days, fermented, and then dried or semi-dried. Fresh patchouli leaves have almost no aroma; essential oil is produced only after fermentation and drying. Newly produced patchouli oil may have a so-called distillation odor and a grassy, burnt smell, which improves after storage for a period, and the aroma becomes more mellow.
