The dried capitulum of the Chrysanthemum family plants, specifically Chrysanthemum indicum and Chrysanthemum lavandulifolium, serves as the primary botanical source for Chrysanthemum indicum extract. Harvesting occurs in summer and autumn, with the flowers used either fresh or sun-dried. Chrysanthemum indicum: A perennial herb, 30–90 cm in height. The stem base is typically creeping, with branching in the upper part. Leaves are alternate, ovate-triangular or ovate-elliptical, 3–7 cm long, pinnately divided, with serrated edges on the lobes and hairy on both surfaces; the petiole is 1–3 cm long, featuring distinct false stipules. The capitulum, 2–3 cm in diameter, is arranged in a corymb; the involucre is hemispherical, consisting of four layers with membranous margins; flowers are small, yellow, with marginal ray florets in a single layer, female; central disc florets are tubular, mostly bisexual. Flowering period is from September to October.
