Fir wood oil

Evergreen tree, up to 30m tall, with a trunk circumference of 2.5-3m. The crown of young trees is pyramidal, while that of mature trees is conical. The bark is gray-brown, fissured into long strips that peel off. The main branches spread horizontally, and the twigs are nearly opposite or whorled. Leaves on the main branches radiate outward, while on lateral branches they are arranged in two rows, linear-lanceolate, leathery, slightly curved, rigid, 2-6cm long, with fine serrations along the margins. Monoecious; male cones conical, clustered at the branch tips; female cones solitary or in clusters of 2-4 at the branch tips, ovoid, with bract scales and seed scales fused, seed scales 3-lobed at the apex. Cones nearly spherical or ovoid, 2.5-5cm long, 3-4cm in diameter, bract scales triangular-broadly ovate, persistent. Seeds long-ovate, flattened, 6-8mm long, about 5mm wide, dark brown, with narrow wings on both sides. Flowering in April, cones mature in late October.
