Artemisia argyi (scientific name: Artemisia argyi H. Lév. & Vaniot), also known as: Xiao Mao, Bing Tai, E Cao, Xiang Ai, Qi Ai, Ai Xiao, Ai Hao, Ai Hao, Peng Hao, Ai, Moxa Grass, Medical Grass, Huang Cao, Ai Rong, etc. It is a perennial herb or slightly semi-shrub-like plant with a strong aromatic scent. The stems are solitary or few, brown or grayish-brown, slightly woody at the base, herbaceous in the upper part, with a few short branches. The leaves are thick and papery, covered with grayish-white short hairs on the upper surface, usually without or with very small pseudostipules at the base. The upper leaves and bract leaves are pinnately lobed. The capitula are elliptical, with tubular or goblet-shaped corollas, glandular spots on the outside, narrow linear anthers, and styles nearly equal to or slightly longer than the corolla. The achenes are long-ovate or oblong. The flowering and fruiting period is from September to October.
