[Main Components]

Eugenol (50%~90%), Eugenyl Acetate (10%~15%), Caryophyllene (5%~12%), Methylamyl Carbinol, Methylheptyl Carbinol, Methylamyl Ketone, Methylheptyl Ketone, Ylangene, etc.

[Preparation Method]

Obtained by steam distillation of the dried, unopened flower buds of the clove tree (Myrtaceae).

Miscible with benzyl benzoate, diethyl phthalate, propylene glycol, and vegetable oils; soluble up to 30% in 70% ethanol; soluble in ethanol and glacial acetic acid; insoluble in water, glycerol, and mineral oils.

[Quality Standards]

A. Phenol Content (as eugenol by volume): ≥85%

B. Heavy Metal Test (GT-16-5): Negative

C. Phenol Test: Negative

D. Optical Rotation: -1.5°~0°
E. Solubility in Alcohol (OT-43): 1 mL sample soluble in 2 mL 70% ethanol
