Perilla Seed Oil

Perilla seed (Fructus Perillae) is the seed of Perilla frutescens, a plant in the Lamiaceae family. It can be used as a seasoning to remove fishy odors, enhance freshness, and improve flavor. It also possesses certain medicinal values, such as relieving qi stagnation, clearing phlegm, moistening the lungs, and promoting intestinal health. Perilla is also an efficient natural plant "preservative."

Perilla seeds contain a large amount of oil, with an oil yield of up to about 45%. The oil consists of 62.73% linolenic acid, 15.43% linoleic acid, and 12.01% oleic acid. The protein content in the seeds accounts for 25%, including 18 amino acids, among which the contents of lysine and methionine are higher than those in the high-protein plant grain amaranth. Additionally, it contains oryzanol, vitamin E, vitamin B1, sitosterol, phospholipids, and more.
