Product Introduction of ICLX100-125A-027H7158 Pilot-Operated Solenoid Valve
The ICLX series two-step opening servo main valve incorporates all the outstanding features of Danfoss ICV series industrial control valves, offering users a truly safe, flexible, and convenient experience with its excellent characteristics.
Danfoss ICLX two-step opening servo main valve provides:
◈ Fully sealed external structure ensures minimal risk of refrigerant leakage
◈ Normally closed valve design maximizes system risk prevention
◈ Direct welding method effectively eliminates risks associated with flange connections, enhancing system safety and installation simplicity
◈ Superior refrigerant flow characteristics enable zero pressure differential opening, especially suitable for low-pressure drop applications
◈ Capable of switching between two-step and one-step opening modes
◈ Two-step opening function can be achieved with just one control signal, facilitating easy installation and commissioning. The new series valve, featuring a Teflon valve plate and airtight piston ring, ensures no hot gas leakage in the system
◈ Optimized design of the hot gas chamber with reduced volume effectively shortens valve closing time
Main Technical Parameters:
◈ Refrigerant: Suitable for all common non-flammable refrigerants, including R 717 (ammonia) and R 744 (carbon dioxide), as well as all non-corrosive gases/liquids
◈ Temperature Range: –60℃/+120℃ (–76℉/+248℉)
◈ Maximum Operating Pressure: 52 bar g (754 psi g)
Applications
ICLX is used on suction lines to ensure safe valve opening under high pressure differential conditions. Its typical application is in large industrial refrigeration systems, serving as the solenoid valve for evaporator return lines requiring hot gas defrosting.ICLX opens in two steps: the first step opens approximately 10% of capacity after the pilot solenoid valve is energized. The second step automatically opens when the valve pressure differential reaches about 1 bar.
External Pressure
The external pressure applied to ICLX should always be at least 1.5 bar higher than the valve inlet pressure. This will achieve an MOPD of 28 bar for the valve. If the external pressure is 2 bar higher than the valve inlet pressure, the MOPD of ICLX will reach 40 bar.
Electrical Connections
The ICLX valve is designed as normally closed. To ensure the valve operates in the normally closed manner, an EVM NC pilot valve must be installed on the pilot valve port marked NC on the top cover, an EVM NO pilot valve on the port marked NO, and external pressure connected to the port marked E (Figure 2).
For normal valve opening, both pilot valves must be energized simultaneously, meaning both pilot valves can share one signal.
Coil Requirements: Both coils must have a protection rating of IP67.
EVM NC: 10W ac (or higher) — when MOPD does not exceed 21 bar
EVM NC: 20W, when MOPD is 21→40 bar
EVM NO: 10W ac (or higher)
If the pressure differential across the valve in the normally open state exceeds 1 bar (15 psi), the valve may malfunction. In this case, the second step opening of the valve will be disabled.
The valve/valve body can be lifted by placing an eye bolt as shown in Figure 8a, position 11.
The arrow on the valve body must align with the flow direction, and the top cover must face upward (Figure 2). The top cover can be rotated to any orientation relative to the valve body. The valve is equipped with a manual opening stem. External pilot pressure tubes must be connected to the upper part of the main line to prevent contaminants and oil from the unit from entering the pilot tubes. This valve can withstand high internal pressure. However, the piping system should be designed to avoid liquid accumulation and reduce liquid pressure caused by thermal expansion. It must be ensured that the valve is not affected by pressure fluctuations such as "liquid hammer" in the system.
Welding (Figures 5 and 8a)
If using temperature-controlled welding or other welding methods that do not produce welding debris, the valve does not need to be disassembled during welding.
Before welding, the top cover (Figure 8a, position 2) and the functional module (Figure 8a, position 3) can be removed to prevent damage to the O-rings and Teflon (PTFE) inside the functional module. As shown in Figure 3, the functional module can be lifted out by applying a vertical force to the groove. Additionally, for external lifting, additional eye bolts can be screwed in as shown in Figure 8a, position 11.
The internal surfaces and welding ends of the sealed ICLX valve are treated with anti-corrosion coating.
To maintain the anti-corrosion effect, the valve should only be disassembled during welding/brazing.
If the functional module is left on the valve body, even for a very short time, additional protective measures must be taken for the module—such as covering it with a polyethylene protective bag or applying a rust inhibitor (e.g., refrigeration oil or BRANOROL) to the surface.
Only use materials and welding methods compatible with the valve body material on the valve body. Do not allow welding debris and contaminants to enter the valve body and functional module. After installation, the valve body must not bear any pressure (external load).
Do not install the valve in systems where the valve outlet side is connected to the external environment. The valve outlet side must always be connected to the system or the port sealed, for example, with a welded blind flange.
Assembly
Before assembly, remove welding debris and dust from the piping and valve body. Before reinstalling the functional module into the valve body, check that the O-rings are intact. If possible, apply some refrigeration oil to reduce insertion resistance and protect the O-rings. Check the top gasket for damage. If the gasket surface is damaged or bent, it must be replaced.
Tightening (Figure 6)
Tighten the top cover with a torque wrench according to the torque values provided in the table.
Color and Marking
ICLX valves are galvanized when leaving the factory. The welding ends are not galvanized. If additional protection is required, the valve can be painted. After completing installation procedures such as welding and assembly, the external surface of the valve body must be protected against corrosion with appropriate high-quality paint. When painting the valve, it is recommended to protect the nameplate.
