The SFA15 angle-type safety valve is a typical back-pressure relief valve, specifically designed to protect containers or other components from overpressure.The valve design meets the stringent quality and safety requirements of refrigeration installations,as well as other international certification standards.In refrigeration systems, it is recommended for use as an internal or external safety valve.The spring housing is tightly sealed to prevent refrigerant leakage.

The inlet diameter of the valve is:- 13 mm (½ in.) SFA 15Valves with set pressures ranging from 10 to 40 bar g (145 to580 psi g) are available.Each valve can be supplied as a safety valve with a standard pressure setting certified by TÜV.

Refrigerants

Suitable for refrigerants such as ammonia, Freon, and carbon dioxide (compatible with sealing materials).The use of flammable hydrocarbons is not recommended. For more detailedinformation, please contact your local Danfoss sales office.

Pressure

Important: The SFA safety valve is a back-pressure-dependent safety valve (if the back pressureexceeds atmospheric pressure, the valve's opening pressure will be higher than the setpressure).In certain situations, such as vibration (which must be avoided), pressure fluctuationsmay cause the valve to close and increase the operating pressure differential.

Pressure Setting

The operating pressure of the refrigeration system must be at least 15% lower than the safety valve's set pressureto ensure the valve reseats properly after activation.

Temperature Range

–30℃ /+100℃ (–22℉ /+212℉ )

Connections

The following connection types are available:

■ External pipe thread T (ISO 228/1)

■ Welded connection (DIN 2448)

Valve Body

The valve body is made of special low-temperature-resistant steel for operation in low-temperature environments.To ensure reliable performance under harsh conditions, the stem, disc, and seat are made ofstainless steel, and the disc gasket is made of special neoprene rubber.

Installation

To ensure proper operation of the safety valve, it must be installed with the spring housingoriented vertically upward. If the valve is used as an internal safety valve and there are no specificrequirements for opening pressure, it may be installed in other orientations. After installation,ensure that the valve is not subjected to static, dynamic, or thermal stresses.

Danfoss has employed various technologies to ensure valve performance, butif foreign matter from the system piping enters the valve body, it may still causedamage to the valve.To prevent contaminants from entering the valve, it is recommended to install an oil-filled U-tubein the discharge branch pipe at the valve's atmospheric outlet.It is also recommended to use the safety valve in conjunction with a double-seat shut-off valve DSV 1 or 2.For more detailed information, please refer to the DSV technical manual.

The SFA is designed according to safety valve standards (DIN3320) and is recommended specifically forrefrigeration systems. When the inlet pressure rises above the set value, the valve initially opens slightly,allowing a small flow of refrigerant.

Recalibration / Maintenance

In some countries, relevant authorities require safety valves to be recalibrated at least once a year(please refer to local regulations).

Control / Identification

After pressure setting at the Danfoss factory, the safety valve is sealed with a lead seal.Therefore, Danfoss guarantees the valve's functionality only if the lead seal remains intact.Each safety valve is equipped with a metal identification plate providing the followinginformation:

- Orifice diameter

- Set pressure

- Production date

- Order code

- Certification type

Transport / Disposal

The safety valve is transported with specially designed protective caps and custom cardboard packaging.
