FURUNO VHF Radio FM-8900S

The FM-8900S is a cost-effective integrated marine VHF radio system, consisting of a 25W VHF radiotelephone, DSC modem, and CH70 watch receiver. It complies with GMDSS transmission requirements for safety and general communications.
The FM-8900S provides semi-duplex voice communication on ITU channels in the maritime mobile VHF band. Features include dual watch (DW), enabling continuous monitoring of CH16 and another selected frequency.
Data is displayed on an extra-large, clear color LCD. Operation is simplified with few buttons and an easy-to-use menu. The built-in DSC function generates and receives digital selective calls, facilitating rapid and efficient distress, urgency, and routine communication with vessels and coast stations equipped with any VHF DSC device. It offers a full suite of Class A DSC functions, suitable for distress alert transmission and reception, as well as general call formats (individual calls, all ships, and group calls). Distress alerts can be transmitted easily, with safeguards against accidental activation. The FM-8900S maintains continuous monitoring of CH70 even while using another VHF channel. Audiovisual alerts are provided for received DSC messages.
