Principle of Coulometric Karl Fischer Moisture Titration
Add iodine-containing electrolyte (Karl Fischer reagent) into the titration cell of the Karl Fischer coulometric titrator. Weigh a certain amount of sample and inject it into the titration cell, where iodine is electrolytically generated at the anode for the Karl Fischer coulometric reaction. When all the water in the sample is titrated, excess iodine is detected by the coulometric endpoint detector, and the titration ends. Based on the stoichiometric relationship of the reaction, 1 mole of iodine reacts with 1 mole of water, and the water content in the sample can be determined according to Faraday's law.
