I. Overview of Disc Dryer Equipment

Disc dryers are primarily used for drying and cooling granular and powdered materials, widely applied in industries such as chemical, food, and new energy.

Wet materials are continuously fed from the feeder onto the first layer of drying discs at the top of the dryer. The rake arms with rake blades rotate to continuously stir and turn the materials. The materials flow along an exponential spiral path over the surface of the drying discs. On the smaller discs, materials are moved to the outer edge and fall to the outer edge of the larger disc below. On the larger discs, materials move inward and fall through the central discharge opening to the next smaller disc. The alternating arrangement of large and small discs allows materials to flow continuously through the entire dryer.

Heating medium, such as saturated steam, hot water, or thermal oil, passes through the hollow drying discs. The heating medium enters from one end of the disc and exits from the other. Dried materials fall from the last layer of drying discs to the bottom of the shell and are finally moved by the rake blades to the discharge outlet for removal. Moisture evaporates from the materials and is discharged through the vent located on the top cover. In vacuum disc dryers, the moist air is extracted by a vacuum pump installed on the top cover. Materials discharged from the bottom layer can be directly packaged.
