Quality inspection report requirements for apparel, home textiles, and children's clothing categories

I. Quality inspection report testing item requirements (click here to view a sample quality inspection report, for reference only; specific testing items are subject to the text below)

1. If you are applying for a store in the apparel, children's clothing, home textiles, or footwear categories, each brand must provide at least one quality inspection report issued by a third-party authoritative institution. Additionally, the mall will conduct random inspections of quality inspection reports for products being sold from time to time. Please keep records on file for inspection.

A. Testing reports for various types of products must include the following testing items:

a) Men's and women's clothing/bras/shapewear/children's clothing/maternity clothing/socks: fiber content, full set of GB18401, labeling, appearance quality;

b) Clothing for infants under three years old: fiber content, full set of GB18401, labeling, appearance quality, color fastness to saliva;

c) Homewear/thermal underwear/bedding sets: fiber content, full set of GB18401, labeling, appearance quality, dimensional change after washing;

d) Down clothing: fiber content, full set of GB18401, labeling, appearance quality, down content, fill power, raw material requirements;

e) Down quilt cores: fiber content, labeling, down content, fill power, raw material requirements;

f) Cotton quilts/silk quilt cores: fiber content, labeling, raw material requirements;

g) Leather/fur clothing and accessories: formaldehyde content, decomposable aromatic amine dyes, labeling, appearance inspection, material identification;

h) Men's and women's shoes/sports shoes/children's shoes: flex resistance, sole adhesion strength, odor, labeling, appearance inspection;

i) Cloth shoes for infants under three years old: odor, labeling, appearance inspection, formaldehyde, decomposable aromatic amine dyes, color fastness to rubbing. Note: The full set of GB18401 includes: color fastness to water, color fastness to perspiration, color fastness to dry rubbing, formaldehyde, pH value, odor, decomposable aromatic amine dyes.

B. Finished garment (finished product) testing reports must be provided, including brand name, product name, and the above mandatory testing items. Products with fillings must additionally test "raw material requirements," and genuine leather shoes, clothing, and accessories must additionally test "material identification." For brands with established quality control systems and trademark registration certificates, requirements for labeling and appearance inspection may be appropriately relaxed.

2. After merchants have settled in, applications to add brands and categories follow the same standards. For settled merchants, the mall will conduct random inspections from time to time, including other categories such as bags. Please keep records on file for inspection.

II. Labeling design (for reference; consult professional quality inspection agencies for details)

Content and sample images required for hangtags:

1. Manufacturer's name and address

2. Product name

3. Product size and specifications

4. Fiber content and composition

5. Execution standard (see below for standards corresponding to conventional products)

6. Product grade (e.g., labeled as "qualified product")

7. Product quality inspection certificate (e.g., labeled as "Inspector: A01")

8. Washing and care labels (5 icons)

9. Safety category (infant products labeled as "Class A: Infant products," products directly contacting skin labeled as "Class B," products not directly contacting skin labeled as "Class C")

Detailed explanations of each item:

1. Manufacturer's name and address

1) For domestic products, the manufacturer's name and address should include: province, city, (county), district, road name, house number, postal code, etc.;

2) For imported products, the country or region of origin should be indicated in Chinese, along with the specific name and detailed address of the legally registered agent (or importer or distributor) in China.

2. Product name

1) Use names specified by national or industry standards;

2) If no name is specified in the standards, use common names or colloquial names that will not cause consumer misunderstanding or confusion.

3. Product size and specifications

Should comply with clothing size labeling methods, expressed as: size/type body type classification code. Size: refers to the height of the human body; Type: refers to the net chest or waist circumference; Body type: refers to the category divided by the difference between chest and waist circumference, classified into Y, A, B, and C. For example: Men's suit 170/88A, suitable for men with a height of about 170cm, chest circumference of about 88cm, and a chest-to-waist difference of 12cm–16cm. Children's clothing: 1) Only size is specified, without body type code; 2) For example: Children's shirt 80/48. Imported clothing and export-to-domestic sales clothing: 1) Must comply with China's clothing size labeling and cannot use only "L," "M," "S," etc.

4. Fiber content and composition

1) Fiber names must be indicated according to national standards, specifying the composition name and content of the raw materials used.

5. Execution standard

1) The product's national standard, industry standard, or enterprise standard number should be indicated.

2) Complete labeling includes the standard code, standard serial number, and year of issue. Standards corresponding to conventional products are shown below.

III. Methods for processing quality inspection reports

1. Product grade

1) Should be labeled according to the grade series specified in the product standard, such as premium grade, first grade, qualified product;

2) Substandard or non-conforming products that do not meet quality standards cannot be vaguely labeled as "third grade" or "off-grade" for sale;

3) For products without grade specifications in national or industry standards, if they meet the standard requirements after inspection, they can be labeled as qualified products.

2. Product quality inspection certificate

1) Each textile or sales unit should be accompanied by a product qualification certificate;

2) Forms of product quality qualification certificates mainly include qualification certificates, qualification labels, qualification stamps, and inspection stamps.

3. Washing and care labels

1) Washing graphic symbols should be arranged in the order of washing, bleaching, drying, ironing, and professional textile maintenance; the order cannot be随意 arranged;

2) If necessary, text explanations can be added to the washing graphic symbols, and the text must correspond one-to-one with the graphic symbols;

3) When graphic symbols are insufficient, concise text can be used for supplementary explanations, but it must not be并列 with the annotations of the graphic symbols' meanings.

4. Other instructions

1) Usage and storage conditions: For products that are easily damaged due to improper use, usage precautions should be noted; if there are special needs for usage and storage, they must be specified; if none, it may not be labeled;

2) Product usage period: Products with a limited usage period (e.g., special functions, anti-toxicity, flame retardancy) should indicate the production date and valid usage period. If none, it may not be labeled; label in the order of year, month, day;

3) Durability labels and content labels for down products must indicate down content and fill power; down product composition must indicate category and color, such as white duck down, gray duck down, white goose down, gray goose down, etc.; denim clothing qualification labels must indicate whether it is a washed product or original color product.

IV. Preparation of materials and process for handling

1. Sample preparation: For products involving appearance quality: it is recommended to provide 2-5 pieces of the same style and color for each category;

2. Product specification size list: It is recommended to provide to the quality inspection agency, i.e., production data such as collar size, garment length, sleeve length, chest circumference, shoulder width, waist circumference, etc.;

3. Hangtags: Must contain complete information (detailed above: hangtag design);

4. Care label: That is, the durable label sewn on the garment, which should remain firmly attached and intact during product use. It must include three aspects of information:

Size specifications: e.g., 175/92A, 200cm * 230cm

Fiber content: e.g., polyester 65%, cotton 35%

Washing and care labels: five icons (should strictly comply with standard GB/T 8685-2008).

5. Handling process:

V. Explanation of professional terms

1. CNAS certificate: Laboratory accreditation certificate, issued by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), is a third-party proof that formally indicates the testing laboratory's capability to perform specific tests;

2. CMA certificate: China Metrology Accreditation (CMA), metrology accreditation is a mandatory legal assessment of testing institutions by the state, and is formal recognition given by government authorities to testing institutions for performing specified types of tests;

3. Fiber content: That is, fiber composition, including all textile and apparel product fabrics, linings, and accessories and decorative materials with an area greater than 15%;

4. Color fastness: Refers to the resistance of a textile's color to various effects during processing and use;

5. Labeling: Includes hangtags and care labels, where care labels are the durable labels sewn on the garment;

6. Appearance quality: Includes sewing quality, appearance defects, pressing appearance, color difference, etc., to assess whether it is a premium grade, first grade, or qualified product.
