Application

N-Hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) is an important chemical raw material widely used in organic synthesis, primarily as an intermediate in the production of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides. For example, NHPI can be used to prepare derivatives of acetaldehyde oxime, enzyme-RNA-peptide conjugates as anticancer and antiviral drugs, synthesize oxazinone amino acids and N-carboxymethyl derivatives of oxazinone as antibiotics, and produce thienopyrimidinediones as modulators for autoimmune diseases. In recent years, it has been used in the study of biomimetic catalytic systems for selective hydrocarbon oxidation. Due to its N-OH group, it readily generates free radicals, making it an intermediate for electron transfer in electrochemical oxidation reactions. It can be used in organic catalytic systems for hydrocarbon oxidation under mild conditions and is also an important substrate in current research on free radical catalytic reactions.
