Iron-carbon micro-electrolysis filler catalyst
Other Products
Micro-electrolysis filler, also known as iron-carbon filler or iron-carbon micro-electrolysis filler, is one of the key components in wastewater treatment using micro-electrolysis technology.
Standardized micro-electrolysis filler and iron-carbon filler are produced by sintering a multi-metal alloy fused with a catalyst at 1300°C. This process effectively addresses the issues of hardening and passivation in iron-carbon fillers. During wastewater treatment, it generates a potential difference of 0.9~1.7V and forms numerous primary cells within the equipment. Using wastewater as the electrolyte, these primary cells facilitate electrochemical treatment through discharge at the anode and cathode, thereby achieving the electrochemical degradation of organic pollutants in the wastewater.
Introduction to Micro-electrolysis Technology
Iron-carbon micro-electrolysis technology primarily utilizes the combined effects of iron's reducibility, its electrochemical properties, and the flocculation and adsorption of iron ions to purify wastewater.
The electrolytic materials in the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis process typically consist of cast iron filings and activated carbon or coke. When these materials are immersed in industrial wastewater (such as coking wastewater or electroplating wastewater), both internal and external electrolytic reactions occur. On one hand, cast iron contains trace amounts of iron carbide, which creates a significant redox potential difference with pure iron, forming numerous microscopic primary cells within the cast iron filings. Pure iron acts as the anode, while iron carbide serves as the cathode, initiating electrochemical reactions in an acidic electrolyte solution, causing iron to dissolve into the solution as ferrous ions. Additionally, the cast iron filings and surrounding carbon particles form larger primary cells. Thus, the wastewater treatment process using micro-electrolysis involves both internal and external electrolysis, or can be described as comprising both microscopic and macroscopic primary cell reactions. Furthermore, to enhance the potential difference and promote the release of iron ions, a certain proportion of catalyst can be added to the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis filler.
