Aluminum alloy is the most widely used non-ferrous structural material in industry, extensively applied in aviation, aerospace, automotive, mechanical manufacturing, shipbuilding, and chemical industries.

Aluminum alloys are categorized into 1-9 series.

Series 1: 1000 series aluminum alloys represent 1050, 1060, and 1100 series. Among all series, the 1000 series has the highest aluminum content, with purity reaching over 99.00%. Due to the absence of other technical elements, the production process is relatively simple, and the price is relatively low, making it the most commonly used series in conventional industries. Most products on the market are from the 1050 and 1060 series.

The minimum aluminum content of the 1000 series aluminum plate is determined by the last two Arabic digits. For example, the last two digits of the 1050 series are 50, and according to international naming principles, the aluminum content must be at least 99.5% to qualify. China's aluminum alloy technical standard (GB/T3880-2006) also明确规定 stipulates that the aluminum content of 1050 must reach 99.5%. Similarly, the aluminum content of the 1060 series aluminum plate must be at least 99.6%.

Series 2: 2000 series aluminum alloys represent 2024, 2A16 (LY16), and 2A02 (LY6). The 2000 series aluminum plates are characterized by high hardness, with the highest copper content, approximately 3-5%. The 2000 series aluminum bars are aviation-grade materials and are not commonly used in conventional industries.

Series 3: 3000 series aluminum alloys represent 3003 and 3A21. China excels in the production technology of 3000 series aluminum plates. The 3000 series aluminum bars are primarily composed of manganese, with content between 1.0-1.5%, making it a series with good anti-rust properties.

Series 4: 4000 series aluminum bars represent 4A01. The 4000 series aluminum plates have a high silicon content, typically between 4.5-6.0%. They are used as building materials, mechanical part forging materials, and welding materials. They feature low melting points and good corrosion resistance. Series 5: 5000 series aluminum alloys represent 5052, 5005, 5083, and 5A05 series. The 5000 series aluminum bars are among the more commonly used alloy aluminum plate series, with magnesium as the main element, content between 3-5%. They are also known as aluminum-magnesium alloys. Key features include low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, and good fatigue strength, but they cannot be heat-treated for strengthening. Aluminum-magnesium alloys weigh less than other series for the same area and are widely used in conventional industries. In China, the 5000 series aluminum plates are one of the more mature aluminum plate series.

Series 6: 6000 series aluminum alloys represent 6061, primarily containing magnesium and silicon, combining the advantages of the 4000 and 5000 series. 6061 is a cold-treated aluminum forging product suitable for applications requiring high corrosion and oxidation resistance. It offers good usability, easy coating, and good processability.

Series 7: 7000 series aluminum alloys represent 7075, primarily containing zinc. It is also an aviation series, being an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy. It is a heat-treatable alloy, belonging to ultra-hard aluminum alloys, with good wear resistance and weldability but relatively poor corrosion resistance.

Series 8: 8000 series aluminum alloys, with 8011 being more commonly used, belong to other series. Most applications involve aluminum foil, and they are less commonly used in aluminum bar production.
