Classification of Test Stations:
1. By Material: Steel test stations, concrete test stations, plastic test stations. Steel test stations are further divided into carbon steel test stations and stainless steel test stations.
2. By Function:
● Potential Test Station: Mainly used for detecting protection potential.
● Sacrificial Anode Test Station: Used to connect sacrificial anodes and measure their performance parameters.
● Current Test Station: Measures current in the pipeline.
● Protection Effectiveness Test Station: Connects to test coupons.
III. Significance of Test Stations in Cathodic Protection: To measure the potential, current, and resistance of structures, cathodic protection test stations must be installed. There are no other better measurement devices available for this purpose. For pipeline potential test stations, one station every 1~2km is sufficient, and generally, one pipeline current measurement station should be set up for every five measurement stations. In densely built urban areas, the spacing for potential measurement stations is approximately half a kilometer. Conversely, above-ground electrical insulation measurement stations need to be installed at buried electrical insulation points.
