In the design of photovoltaic power generation systems, the installation form of the photovoltaic module array significantly affects the total solar radiation received by the system, thereby influencing the power generation capacity of the grid-connected photovoltaic system.

The fixed installation methods of photovoltaic components on buildings are further divided into Building-Applied Photovoltaics (BAPV) and Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV). Among them, BAPV involves directly placing photovoltaic components on buildings, while BIPV uses specialized photovoltaic components as building materials, integrating them as part of the building envelope.

(1) For existing buildings that are already constructed, it is generally recommended to adopt the direct placement fixed installation method. This method involves fixing metal brackets on the building's roof or facade wall surface, and then securely installing solar photovoltaic components on these metal brackets, forming a solar photovoltaic array that covers the surface of the existing building. This installation method has relatively low initial construction costs.

(2) For new buildings under construction or in the design phase, BIPV can be considered. This involves combining solar cell components with building materials to create building elements that serve as the external surface materials of the structure. Alternatively, specialized components can be directly used as roofing or curtain wall materials to cover the building surface, making the photovoltaic components an integral part of the building. Moreover, considering the application of photovoltaic power generation during the architectural design phase allows for better integration of architectural design and photovoltaic system design, resulting in an optimal combination of architecture and photovoltaics: maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the building while maximizing the power generation efficiency of the solar energy system.
