The main component of silicon carbide heating elements is SiC, which is fired at temperatures generally above 2200°C. The operating temperature typically ranges from 900°C to 1400°C, with a normal continuous service life of over 2000 hours. These elements offer superior performance, including high operating temperatures, excellent oxidation resistance, fast thermal conductivity, strong thermal radiation capability, low thermal expansion coefficient, high thermal efficiency, and low energy consumption. They are easy to use, allowing for parallel, series, or mixed connections, and can be installed horizontally or vertically, making them a common heating element in medium to high-temperature electric furnaces.

Silicon carbide rods are non-metallic heating elements whose resistivity changes with temperature in a nonlinear manner. There is an inflection point in the resistivity of silicon carbide rods at around 800°C.
The higher the current applied to a silicon carbide rod, the higher its surface temperature. It is recommended to use the smallest possible surface load density (power). Note that the current and voltage values recorded for the cold end in air at 1000°C may not necessarily match actual usage conditions. Generally, the surface power is determined based on the relationship between the furnace temperature and the surface temperature, and it is advisable to use a surface power (W/cm²) that is 1/2 to 1/3 of the limit density.
For continuous use, gradually increasing the resistance can help extend the service life. Parallel connections are preferred whenever possible. If the resistances differ, connecting them in series may cause concentrated load on the higher resistance rod, leading to rapid resistance increase and shortened lifespan.
