Industrial Ammonium Chloride
Other Products
Properties: Colorless cubic crystals or white crystalline powder. Salty, cool taste with slight bitterness.
Relative density 1.527. Sublimes when heated to 350°C.
Boiling point 520°C. Highly soluble in water, soluble in liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in acetone and ether. Begins significant volatilization at 100°C, dissociates into ammonia and hydrogen chloride at 337.8°C, recombining upon cooling into extremely fine ammonium chloride particles forming a dense white mist that does not settle easily and is very difficult to redissolve in water. Low hygroscopicity, but can absorb moisture and form lumps in damp or rainy weather. Aqueous solution is weakly acidic, acidity increases when heated. Corrosive to ferrous and other metals, particularly corrosive to copper, non-corrosive to cast iron.

Packaging: Outer woven bag, inner plastic bag liner, net weight 25/50KG.
Protection: Highly corrosive, avoid skin contact. Permissible concentration of ammonium chloride fumes in air is 10g/m³. Operators should wear work clothes, masks, latex gloves, etc. Equipment should be sealed, and workshop ventilation should be adequate.
Storage and Transportation: Store in a cool, ventilated, dry warehouse, protect against moisture. Avoid storage and transportation with acids and alkalis. Protect from rain and direct sunlight during transportation. Handle with care during loading and unloading to prevent packaging damage. In case of fire, use water, sand, or carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.
Uses: Mainly used in ore dressing and leather tanning, agricultural fertilizer. Used as a dyeing auxiliary, electroplating bath additive, metal welding flux. Also used in tin and zinc plating, pharmaceuticals, candle making, adhesives, chromizing, precision casting (ammonium chloride used as a shell hardening agent in investment casting), and manufacturing dry cells and batteries, as well as other ammonium salts.
