CAS No.: 15827-60-8 Alias: Diethylenetriamine pentamethylene phosphonic acid; DETPMP; Diethylenetriamine pentamethylphosphonic acid; Diethylenetriamine penta(methylenephosphonic acid) Molecular formula: C9H28N3O15P5 Relative molecular mass: 573.2 Structural formula: I. Properties and Applications DTPMPA is non-toxic, easily soluble in acidic solutions, excellent in scale inhibition and corrosion inhibition, and has good temperature resistance. It can inhibit the formation of carbonate and sulfate scales. In alkaline environments and at high temperatures (above 210°C), its scale inhibition and corrosion inhibition performance are better than other organic phosphonates. DTPMPA is used in water treatment as a scale and corrosion inhibitor for circulating cooling water and boiler water, especially suitable for alkaline circulating cooling water as a scale and corrosion inhibitor without pH adjustment. It can also be used as a scale and corrosion inhibitor for oilfield injection water with high barium carbonate content, cooling water, and boiler water. When used alone in compound agents, no dispersant needs to be added, and the amount of fouling deposition remains very small. DTPMPA can also be used as a peroxide stabilizer (especially effective as a hydrogen peroxide stabilizer under high-temperature conditions), chelating agent for textile printing and dyeing, pigment dispersant, oxygen delignification stabilizer, trace element carrier in fertilizers, and concrete additive. In addition, it is widely used in papermaking, electroplating, metal pickling, cosmetics, etc. It can also serve as a stabilizer for oxidative bactericides. II. Technical Specifications Comply with HG/T 3777-2005 Item | Specification | Appearance | Brown-yellow or brown-red viscous liquid | Active component % ≥ | 50.0 | Phosphite (as PO33-) % ≤ | 3.0 | pH (1% aqueous solution) ≤ | 2.0 | Fe (as Fe3+) content mg/L ≤ | 35 | Chloride (as Cl-) % | 12-17 | Density (20°C) g/cm3 | 1.35~1.45 |
III. Usage Method As a scale inhibitor, DTPMPA is generally used at a concentration of 1–30 mg/L; as a cleaning agent, it is generally used at a concentration of 1000–2000 mg/L. It is usually used in combination with polycarboxylic scale dispersants. In other industries, the dosage should be determined based on tests. IV. Packaging and Storage DTPMPA is packaged in plastic barrels, 30 kg per barrel or as required by the customer. Store in a cool indoor place; the shelf life is twelve months. V. Safety Precautions DTPMPA is acidic. Pay attention to labor protection during operation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, etc. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. |
