I. Technical Specifications

II. Properties
Bronopol has a solubility concentration of up to 28% w/v in water at room temperature; concentrated aqueous solutions tend to crystallize at low temperatures, and care should be taken to avoid this situation; it shows good affinity in non-polar organic solvents; according to separately published and unpublished studies: Bronopol has a complex reaction pattern, including electrophilic and radical reactions with thiol-containing enzymes, thereby inhibiting bacterial respiration and metabolism. In addition, Bronopol disrupts the components of the electron transfer chain, leading to the production of peroxides and oxidative radicals, hindering the internal microbial cell recovery process.
III. Applications
Used for the preservation of surface coatings and polymer emulsions, resisting spoilage caused by bacteria; it is also effective for the preservation of water-based coatings. XDD BN combines important safety features with efficient antimicrobial activity; it has also proven effective in killing organisms that have developed resistance to other biocides; in this application area, XDD BN can be used alone or in combination with other biocidal active ingredients to protect water-based coatings, polymer dispersions, and coatings; this adaptability allows formulators to optimize the use of various biocide concentrations and reduce the risk of developing resistant or tolerant bacteria in products.
It has broad-spectrum activity against all bacterial groups, including anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), inhibiting most bacteria at concentrations between 6.25 and 50 ppm; Bronopol's activity against fungi varies greatly, and higher doses are usually required to inhibit fungal growth; it inhibits most yeasts and molds at 400–1600 ppm, however, spoilage fungi require 6400 ppm. Therefore, economical dosage ratios cannot always be achieved with Bronopol alone, and in such cases, combination with other active ingredients is recommended; Bronopol is also effective in controlling algal growth. 50 ppm of active ingredient can inhibit mixed populations, while single strains may require levels below 6.25 ppm.
The specific dosage should be determined by the user based on field trials.
IV. Packaging
This product is packaged in 25 kg cardboard drums. The packaging container is labeled with the product name, specifications, batch number, net weight, and manufacturer name.
V. Transportation and Storage
This product should be handled with care during transportation to prevent damage. It should be stored in a dry, cool place away from light. At room temperature, the product has a shelf life of 3 years in the sealed original packaging.
