Different analytical methods have varying requirements for reagents. For complexometric titration, analytical grade reagents and deionized water must be used; otherwise, impurity metal ions in the reagents or water may block the indicator, making the titration endpoint difficult to observe.
On the other hand, applications such as GC-MS, HPLC, UPLC, and LC-MS require specific or highly purified solvent grades to meet the stringent performance requirements of trace analysis. This ensures high instrument sensitivity for users while avoiding downtime for cleaning due to residues caused by the use of low-quality solvents. The benefits of using high-quality solvents also include reducing repetitive work, improving precision and accuracy, enhancing instrument performance, increasing reproducibility, and reducing instrument accessories while improving analytical efficiency. Although the cost of these high-purity solvents may be slightly higher than that of lower-grade products, these costs can be offset by the aforementioned benefits.
The following are several common uses of laboratory chemical reagents:
1. HPLC-grade high-purity liquid chromatography solvent advantages:
• Low UV absorption
• Low content of non-volatile substances, free acids, free bases, and moisture
• Suitable for fluorescence detection
Uses: For liquid chromatography (LC) sample preparation, LC sample analysis, LC-MS analysis 2. Pesticide residue-grade reagent advantages:
• Extremely low pesticide residue background (≤5 pg/ml ), very few non-volatile components
• GC-controlled (ECD-PND detection) with reliable quality and high stability
• Suitable for analyzing organochlorine pesticides, organophosphorus pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls
• (PCBs) and other compounds detected by GC/ECD and GC/PND
• Meets the requirements for various pesticide residue analyses and low-volatility impurities
Uses: For gas chromatography detection (ECD, PND), for organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticides, PCBs, and other compounds detected by GC/ECD and GC/PND. 3. Spectroscopic pure reagent advantages:
• Low UV absorption, low infrared absorption
• Low impurity content
• Suitable for UV and IR spectral analysis
Uses: For UV and IR spectral analysis

4. Guaranteed reagent meets international standard requirements, with low metal element impurity content (mostly at ppm level). Uses: Guaranteed reagents can be used for most conventional experiments, and such products can also be applied in production fields.

5. Extra pure and synthesis reagents The quality standards of extra pure or for synthesis grade reagents can meet the requirements for the preparation of routine laboratory solutions or standardized production use (such as raw materials for drug synthesis). Typically, only some key application parameters are tested, such as purity, IR parameters, moisture content, ether content, and peroxide components.
6. NMR nuclear magnetic resonance solvents Deuterated solvents are widely used in the field of chemical research and are indispensable for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, an important method for analyzing the molecular structure of organic compounds.  Uses: NMR experiments can provide information about the correlation of atoms with other atoms in the molecule, including the spatial orientation and three-dimensional structure of the molecule. They have broad applications in proteomics, genomics, and drug research.  What are the requirements for deuterated solvents? NMR is very sensitive to the deuteration degree of the solvents used. For example, with a 200 MHz spectrum, a deuteration degree of 99.5% to 99.8% is sufficient. If the equipment grade is higher, such as with a 600 MHz spectrum, a higher deuteration degree is required.
7. Reference reagents Reference compounds must be pure substances within the test accuracy range; reference solutions are used to test and calibrate equivalent solutions and pH buffer solutions; only such substances can reflect the test determination of equivalent solutions.
8. Derivatization reagents Derivatization refers to the method of attaching specific groups to the analyte through chemical reactions to improve its detection sensitivity and separation effect. Chemical derivatization reactions are widely used in instrumental analysis to alter the properties of compounds, making them more suitable for specific analytical processes. For gas chromatography: to increase the volatility of the sample or improve detection sensitivity; for high-performance liquid chromatography: to undergo chemical reactions with sample components, with the reaction products facilitating chromatographic detection or separation; for UV spectroscopy: to attach specific groups to the measured compound, giving it UV absorption; for infrared spectroscopy: to bond specific groups to the measured compound, giving it IR absorption; for fluorescence detection: to attach fluorescent chromophores.  Finally, consider both quality and price comprehensively.
Although chemical reagents must pass national standard inspections before leaving the factory for sale, reagents from different manufacturers and industrial production batches can sometimes show significant differences in performance. Even for the same manufacturer, different batches of the same type of reagent may not have entirely consistent properties. Therefore, in certain high-precision analyses, it is important to consider not only the grade of the reagent but also the manufacturer and production batch number. (Experiment and Analysis)
Choosing professional chemical product analysis and testing services is key to ensuring product quality and safety.
