PVDF is a fluoroplastic product, an abbreviation for poly(vinylidene fluoride), which primarily refers to the homopolymer of vinylidene fluoride or copolymers of vinylidene fluoride with small amounts of other fluorine-containing vinyl monomers. It combines the characteristics of both fluororesins and general-purpose resins. In addition to excellent chemical corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, weather resistance, and radiation resistance, it also possesses special properties such as piezoelectricity, dielectricity, and thermoelectricity. Currently, PVDF is the second-largest product in terms of production volume among fluoroplastics, with a global annual production capacity exceeding 43,000 tons. The applications of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin are mainly concentrated in three major fields: petrochemicals, electronics and electrical engineering, and fluorocarbon coatings. PVDF resin is one of the most important raw materials for fluorocarbon coatings. Fluorocarbon coatings prepared from it have now reached the sixth generation. Due to the super weather resistance of PVDF resin, these coatings can be used outdoors for long periods without maintenance, making them widely applied in power stations, airports, highways, high-rise buildings, and more. Additionally, PVDF resin can be modified by blending with other resins, such as combining PVDF resin with ABS resin to produce composite materials, which are extensively used in construction, automotive decoration, home appliance casings, and other applications.
