Luer connectors are widely used in pipeline systems such as syringes.
Leakage testing is conducted under the conditions described in section 5.2 of the GBT1692 standard, where the leakage must not be sufficient to form dripping water droplets. During the test, the axis of the conical connector should be in a horizontal position.
For air leakage testing, under the test conditions specified in section 5.3 of the GBT1692 standard, no bubbles should form. Bubbles formed within the first 5 seconds can be ignored.
What testing instrument is used for Luer connector leakage and air tightness testing?
The Luer Taper Connector Leakage and Air Tightness Tester LEY-T01, developed and produced by Zhongce Electromechanical, is primarily used to test the leakage and air tightness of 6% Luer taper connectors. It is also known as the Luer Connector Seal Tester, Luer Taper Connector Leakage Tester, Luer Connector Leakage Detector, etc.

Leakage Testing Method for Conical Connector Assemblies Under Pressure
1. Connect the conical connector under test to a steel external conical connector or internal standard connector. The dimensions of the standard connector should comply with Figure 4 or Figure 5. Both connecting parts should be dry. During assembly, apply an axial force of 27.5N, hold for 5 seconds, and simultaneously apply a torque not exceeding 0.1N·m, rotating no more than 90°.
2. Fill the assembly with water.
3. Remove air.
4. Ensure the exterior of the conical connector assembly is dry.
5. Seal the outlet of the assembly and increase the internal water pressure to 300 kPa.
6. Maintain this pressure for 30 seconds.
Note: If other test methods (such as Appendix A) yield results consistent with the standard test method described above, they may also be used.
Air Leakage Testing Method for Conical Connector Assemblies During Suction
I. Air Leakage Testing Method for External Conical Connectors
1. Connect the external conical connector under test to a standard internal conical connector with dimensions as specified. Both connecting parts should be dry. During assembly, apply an axial force of 27.5N, hold for 5 seconds, and simultaneously apply a torque not exceeding 0.1N·m, rotating no more than 90°.
2. Connect the standard internal conical connector to a syringe using a minimal-volume leak-proof connector. The syringe should have been pre-selected and passed the test for piston leakage during suction as per ISO 7886.
3. Pull the syringe to draw freshly boiled and cooled water through the device and the standard internal conical connector into the syringe. The water volume should exceed 25% of the syringe’s calibrated capacity.
4. Remove air, allowing a small bubble to remain.
5. Adjust the water volume in the syringe to 25% of its calibrated capacity.
6. Seal the small hole at the rear end of the conical connector assembly.
7. Position the syringe with the cone downward and retract the plunger to the nominal capacity. Hold for 15 seconds.
II. Testing Method for Internal Conical Connectors
Conduct the test similarly to the external conical connector air leakage test, but use a syringe with a steel standard external conical connector that meets the specifications, assembled with the internal conical connector for testing.
Note: If other test methods yield results consistent with the standard test method described above, they may also be used.
